about

The work:
Incorporating electronic sound, a 15-20 piece acoustic ensemble, abstract visual imagery, and dramatic movement on behalf of the Conductor and instrumentalists, Temple of Electryone (2020) is a synaesthetic homage to the Greek goddess Electryone. Throughout the piece, Electryone's mystique and heroic nature is highlighted by coordinating aural and visual elements into a subtly shifting and immersive multimedia experience.

Temple of Electryone was commissioned by New Music Edmonton for premiere at the Edmonton City Hall Atrium during NME's 2020 Now Hear This festival. The space has provided the fundamental inspiration for this work: a sizable and multi-faceted three-story indoor hall situated under and illuminated by an expansive glass atrium.

The audio tracks:
The above 10 tracks consist of the various loops which make up the electronic fragments featured in a performance of Temple of Electryone, in addition to some fully composed tracks and ancillary loops.

The premiere:
Electryone's premiere was originally scheduled for March 2020. Due to quarantine conditions and public health concerns, the work's premiere has been postponed indefinitely.
